It was written by Sheikh Salim bin Sumair al-Hadrami, a scholar from Hadramaut, Yemen, who died in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1271 H (1854 CE). The book is also known as Safinatun Najah, which means "the ship of salvation" in Arabic.
