Scope of SAES-Q-005




Types of concrete foundations covered by SAES-Q-005




SAES-Q-005 applies to all cast-in-place concrete foundations, except for retaining walls, which are covered by SAES-Q-009. Cast-in-place concrete foundations are those that are poured on site using forms and reinforcement. Examples of cast-in-place concrete foundations are footings, pedestals, piers, slabs, mats, piles, caissons, etc.


SAES-Q-005 also covers additional design and construction requirements for heavy machinery foundations, which are covered by SAES-Q-007. Heavy machinery foundations are those that support equipment such as compressors, pumps, turbines, generators, etc.
